Comment: Our first stop was at Gibb's Farm in Karatu, near Lake Manyara.

01Enroute - 1 * Think long and hard about ever flying with Ethiopian Airlines. The cabin was hot, the interior poorly maintained and 16 hours in row 12 (its on a galley bulkhead) which does not recline is unacceptable.

01Enroute - 2 * Over Tanzania.

01Enroute - 3 * Landing at Arusha.

02GibbsFarm - 2 * Gibb's Farm (gibbsfarm.net) was really nice although we were only there for a quick overnight stay.

02GibbsFarm - 3 * Gibb's Farm.

02GibbsFarm - 4 * Gibb's Farm.

02GibbsFarm - 5 * Gibb's Farm.

03LakeManyara - 01 * We stopped to admire the distant volcanic erruption. Oldoinyo Lengai is a volcano in the Eastern Rift Valley, North Tanzania. Its name means 'Mountain of God' in the language of the Maasai people who inhabit this area. Oldoinyo Lengai is of particular interest to geologists because it is the world's only active volcano that erupts natrocarbonatite lava. It is also the only active volcano in this part of the East African Rift Valley, though there are many older extinct volcanoes in this region. Oldoinyo Lengai rises about 2000 metres above the Rift Valley floor to a height of approximately 2886 metres. (it.stlawu.edu/~cnya/)
